SNAP CUSTOMER PAYMENT
When paying for groceries, the SNAP customer will swipe their EBT card at the POS authorized terminal and will enter a four-digit PIN. The cashier will then enter the dollar amount of the food purchase on the POS, in which that dollar amount will be deducted from the household’s EBT SNAP account and credited to the processing account.
All transactions are electronically processed and recorded. The US Department of Agriculture has access to all records of all transactions including the date, time and dollar amount on all terminals.
POS SYSTEMS
The following POS systems can accept EBT:
A standalone terminal is required for all other POS systems. Terminal rental options are available. Your location must be processing on the First Data network.
SETTLEMENT PROCESS
EBT will be settled as normal, with a card type for EBT listed on the daily batch summary.
GETTING SET-UP
To get set-up to accept EBT, call FNS at 877-823-4369 or visit https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/retailer.
We will confirm with you, via email, once your profile is setup. Then, you can call your POS helpdesk to program a method of payment key on your terminal, or you can check for instructions under EBT, at the Clark Crown Help Center. If you are renting, an already programmed standalone terminal will be sent to you.
